COMOCAP

The Société des Conserves Modernes du Cap Bon, COMOCAP, was founded on 18 May 1961 by the late Hadj Ali Obay, who saw the prospect of providing an industrial outlet for his abundant and adequate local agricultural production.

Moreover, COMOCAP's specific activity is limited, appropriately enough, to the production of Double Concentrated Tomato, fruit jam and Harissa chilli pepper.
COMOCAP's processing capacity has increased from 40 tonnes/day when it was set up, to 3,000 tonnes/day of fresh tomatoes and 120 tonnes/day of chilli peppers, i.e. 10% of the sector's total capacity. 13,000 tonnes of double concentrated tomato (28-30) and 1,500 tonnes of chilli pepper Harissa are produced annually. 14% to 15% of this production is exported.
