About
It all started in 1953 in the garage of our grandparents Maria and Franz Schumacher in Raeren, Belgium, just near the German border near Aachen. After the war, our grandfather wanted to build a new life. He decided to make mustard, because producing mustard was not complicated, cheap and did not require much space. Business with mustard was going well and over time the company, called “Gloria” then “Filou”, expanded, the garage and small annex were completed by two other extensions. our grandparents started producing other products, including mayonnaise and cooked dishes. But then our grandfather Franz fell ill. Our aunt, one of our mother’s sisters Elvira, took over the business for a while, but it was clear that she did not want to run it forever. Eventually, our mother Elvira and father Philippe decided to take over the company.
In 1983, our parents took over the company in its entirety. Meanwhile, the cooked dishes, produced in large quantities in our Belgian Canning & Moutarderie, had been a great success on the market. For nearly four years, our parents produced only for one large customer. At one point, other products were added: dressings, spreads and sauces. The business continued to grow. Soon, four children were born, that is us. As we grew older, more we helped our parents in the company, until three of us gradually joined the company.
